SAN FRANCISCO, USA - Bode Gravel Company, an independent ready mixed concrete company in San Francisco, is the latest producer to convert to continuous process operation with their recent purchase of a Knelson Concrete Recovery System, model ZD-1540.
San Francisco will be seeing "Here Comes Bode" mixer trucks for many years to come. |
This custom CRS model will efficiently accommodate their 30+ mixer truck plant located on the Bay in the heart of busy downtown San Francisco, and will collect and control returned concrete and washout, and send it back into production without negative effects on workability, finishability or set times.
Bode has been in the ready mix business since 1915; it was founded by Henry Bode and, like many family-run concrete businesses in North America, has survived the rigors of change through hard work, perseverance and the ability to adapt. Current Bode president, Dan Boardman, knows that continued survival means they must secure Bode against ever-tightening environmental regulations by preparing their plant for zero discharge. Bode chose the Knelson Concrete Recovery System (CRS) for the job.
The installation and commissioning of the Knelson Concrete Recovery System at Bode Gravel is scheduled for late summer, just in time for its first public viewing: the new Bode plant is one of three ready mix operations selected for NRMCA's plant tour during the OES Forum & Expo held this year in San Francisco from October 3rd to 5th.
Working with product manager, Dave Beckham, to incorporate Knelson CRS into their present operation, Bode will reconfigure onsite traffic flow to create increased efficiencies (in both driver time and yard space) and promote yard safety. The Bode washout design, which involves a ground-level drive-over canal reaching the width of the 3.4 acre yard to accommodate six trucks washing out simultaneously, will very likely set a new standard of cleanliness and efficiency.
With many more efficiencies worked into this project, it looks like San Francisco will be seeing "Here Comes Bode" mixer trucks for many years to come.
The Knelson Concrete Recovery System (CRS) offers ready mix producers a complete environmental solution to waste concrete. CRS recovers aggregate to spec and safely stores and monitors the cementitious slurry until it can safely be reused as mixing water in a fresh batch of concrete.
