Knelson Concrete Recovery Systems product founder Dave Beckham began developing the system concept in the mid 1990's when concrete reclamation was first beginning to gain popularity.
The process was still quite unstable at that time due to the lack of control over cement hydration, but in 1998 a publication by W.R. Chemist Larry Roberts prescribing the use of hydrocarboxylic acid as a hydration stabilizer allowed development to advance.
In 1999 Knelson, globally renowned as the leading mineral processing solution provider, approached Beckham with an offer to collaborate on developing the product through the R&D, prototype and BETA stages. This union brought together Knelson's manufacturing and design expertise with Beckham's own design acuities and profound understanding of the ready mix industry.
Two lead customers were identified and Knelson undertook to build systems for Lafarge Construction Materials of Vancouver, B.C. and Corliss Concrete of Sumner, Washington.
In late 2002, Knelson Concrete Systems entered the market as a supplier of a complete turnkey concrete recovery system that would meet the needs of the marketplace and provide producers with a reliable and practical method of moving from waste management to material recovery. It didn't take long before Knelson was granted an Environmental Innovation award by the NRMCA in early 2003.
At present, Knelson continues to expand within a tremendously receptive North American market. |
